Imagine Border Collies
and Fuzzy Acres Border Collies (Rescues)
U-CDX Fuzzy Acres Samantha Jo CDX HIC
Samantha was my first border collie.  She was rescued from the animal shelter by a local rescue group.  The reason given for her being relinquished to the shelter was that she was “always underfoot.”  She was just 10 weeks old!

Samantha and I together discovered a passion for competitive obedience.  We weren’t the best, but we were consistent — earning 193s regularly.  We just finished our U-CDX when Samantha developed an acute case of 'heeling hatred'.  I semi-retired her for a while to think about how to ‘fix’ this problem so we could go on to Utility.  In the meantime, Samantha got to play with sheep occasionally and showed quite an aptitude for herding.  Unfortunately, a chronic lameness kept her from competing in any venue.

I was lucky to have this white-faced girl in my life.  She taught me many things and solidified my passion for border collies.  She is my ‘Heart Dog’, one that I will love and miss forever.

Samantha passed away September 2, 2004, at just 8 years of age from lymphosarcoma.  I miss her every day.
